I recently bought a couple of tins of tobacco and didnt realize they were in plug form. Im sure the shop that I bought them from would take them back but I decided to keep them. I have not smoked plug before but I watched some youtube videos to figure it out. Do you guys have any specific thoughts on plug tobacco? Is it difficult to use? Any specific tips would be helpful. Thanks

Over in Pipe Tobacco Discussion is a pinned thread on how to prepare plug tobaccos. I don't smoke much plugs, but I've always had good luck taking a very sharp knife and slicing flakes from it. Then prepare the flake as you like flakes. Just remember as the advice starts pouring in, if you're enjoying your smoke you did it right.

I love plug tobaccos, particularly Salty Dogs....but my tips are that plugs will retain moisture, and also will expand more in the bowl when you are lighting. To that end, as you learn how to smoke them I'd recommend processing them down finely, packing them a little loosely. You'll find the sweet spot, but better to go a little light and adjust than to have to unpack and try again.
