One image of note is that of a tobacco roll sign in New Cross, which, according to George Apperson’s The Social History of Smoking “was one of the commonest of early tobacconists' signs, and was in constant use for a couple of centuries”.

I'm not sure how nostalgic this is, but I have never seen anything like it before.

Great ads!! I've only had one 4 oz. tin of Cope's Escudo in my life and it was sublime. It was literally better than sex.
