I use partial plateaux as an accent...but it has to make sense in the overall design. I would have shaped the pipe to eliminate the spot...

That is an awesome pipe! I wouldn't say you bought it because of the speck of plateau on the heel though. The plateau on Ember's pipe makes much more sense, and I agree with zack24 as far as eliminating that spot.

After some consideration, I'm going to pass.

If it were a $200 pipe, I'd probably buy it, but not at that price.

Good call. That pipe has been available for a good while now. If it didn't have the spot it wouldn't have lasted a day. I'm certain the pipe wouldn't have left the bench if it was compromised, but the smoke is only part of the joy of the pipe.
