I have nothing of value to add but (humorously to me) I can only see “Turdpouch” when reading the nomenclature and I thought that would be the perfect 1Q pipe 😂😂

No offense to whomever’s signature / name is actually written or their skill as a pipe maker or the family honor if it turns out to actually be the surname of Turdpouch (highly unlikely, but not entirely impossible I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️)

I crack me up with the stupid notions that creep into my brain sometimes but this one just makes me laugh so I figured I’d share in case you lot needed a laugh (on the off chance anyone has the same ridiculous sense of humor?)

It could just be lack of sleep too 🧐

Seriously though, it’s a very cool looking pipe and I quite like it. Bet it will be a great tactile experience for smoking too!

Is it weird that it appears to have been signed/engraved after it was stained? That seems weird to me, but maybe it is the photo.

Either it is a wasp nest style pipe or maybe the very famous termite mound style. Haute couture in pipes.

That's hilarious! I swear that Turd is what I read, too! Didn't get the pouch part. All I know is the maker made a nice pipe, but he needs to go to script writing school if he wants to continues writing his name for the public to see!

Howdy Bishop, and wish I had been smart enough to call it a bee hive pipe. That's exactly what it looks like to me!

From the way the rustication carries onto the stem, I would guess Monstrosity Pipes, but that guy's name is Ollie Sylvester. I see "Jusi Paul 2016" in the signature.

Maybe were reading it upside down? It's shape number 9105 and illegible cursive, not illegible cursive and year 2016?

I have studied this for the last few days.
I see just Paul 2016 or that 2016 could be Zulu…..I had to look to see Zulu instead of 2016, but I believe it’s 2016.

I thought I would give ChatGPT a shot with this... uploaded Steve's image of the pipe into the app and after a number of attempts by the baffled "AI fairy", a final recommendation as follows;

"Next steps I recommend
1. Post one of the enhanced crops (preferably the red-boosted image) to specialist forums (Pipestud, PipesMagazine forum, Pipedia thread) and Reddit r/PipeTobacco asking for ID — these communities often recognize artisan signatures quickly. Suggested short text to copy/paste:
I recently acquired this briar pipe signed on the base (photo). The signature looks like “[your transcription]” and includes “2016”. Can anyone ID the maker or read the signature?"

ChatGPT said it was a 2016 dunhill. So I’d not have faith in that.

Googling around I found a guy named Justin Poulin who makes glass weed pipes, maybe he tried his hand on briar? Couldn't find much on him though, probably a false lead.
