Pipes Make Lockdown Bearable

Not a whole lot changed during COVID with me, but it did get me interested in new hobbies and renewing old ones (like pipe smoking). There was a silver lining in there for most people.

Don’t be too jealous, I’m a road musician. The work from home option does not apply to me either, and the light at the end of the tunnel for my entire industry even now is little more than a rumor. And I still love cigars, but it is more of a social event, drinks and stogies with my friends. Pipes seem more versatile: much wider spectrum of flavors, more flexible with respect to time, and personally after a year, I have yet to cross paths with any other pipe smokers, so it’s become more of a solo contemplative time for me so far, which I deeply enjoy.

Funny, I find socializing with cigar guys to be way less enjoyable than our pipe club meetings. I mean, I have met some really nice guys who smoke cigars, but in cigar lounges, it becomes a huge sausage party on who is the biggest dick in the room. Backslapping and busting balls is one thing, but something about room full of them... makes me prefer my cigar alone. But, to each their own.
