Thanks for the explanation of VPN chaps, once it was explained I realised I had come across it before.
Regards GDPR I agree, when it was initiated I thought it a great idea. However, all P&C has to do is assure all visitors to their site that they will not pass on any personal data to anyone else. That way they can allow access to their site to everyone irrespective of their geographical location.
As I said earlier, I have never bought direct from them but the bulk of my cellar is made up of blends supplied by them to my enabling friend.

What on earth harm can there be in allowing me to view what is for sale in another country?

When you enter a website it starts collecting some information about you, your location, etc via cookies. EU GDPR regulates the handling of this personal information, hopefully giving more control to the internet users over the websites. Some US websites don't want to waste time on this matter since their target customers are the residents of the USA. After the Brexit, nothing will change for the UK residents, since the government is applying a similar regulation locally. The interesting thing is I was redirected to the error page (link below) when I clicked on a banner in an email that I had received from P&C few weeks ago. I say interesting because I don't live in EU. But I can go to their homepage without any problem right now.

I'm no tech, but I do have the sense the the free and open days online are rapidly ending. The frontier is closing, property lines are being drawn, and fences are being built. The open spaces are being monetized, and transparency is about gone. Okay, that's my Chicken Little routine for the day, but I think there is some truth here.
