I just had a thought about it, I think I will fill a bowl and light up, this may be the deepest thought I will have all day.

I think it is the result of a cocktail of memories, education received, nostalgia and other events of our childhood and adolescence. I am referring to the generations that come after us. From those who were born in the 70s, 60, 50, 40 to back.
We watched TV, and everybody smoked, in the programs, in the movies, our fathers, mothers, siblings, the milk delivery man, etc. For me in particular, when I'm not at peace, I find it hard to smoke, it's not a pleasant smoke, even with my favorite tobacco. Or reading a good book, or even a good distillate. I need inner peace.

Nope. The nicotine only alters my mind a teensy bit, not nearly enough for epiphanies. I've never associated the pipe itself with mystical powers. Nicotine? Not mystical but, the brain loves it. Perhaps those who attribute mystical powers to the pipe and, not the nicotine, use smoking as an escape mechanism. Just a thought.
