Uncle Sam wouldn't allow it

Strange. Uncle Sam has a beard.

My beard has been safe so far.

My beard and my pipe came into my life at about the same time ... neither has ever damaged the other, but then the beard IS quite close-cropped, so no wayward strands of hair dangle into the bowl of my pipe which, I suppose, could present a problem ...

I haven't managed to light my beard on fire, but quite the opposite; I worked on the nightcrew at CostCo a few years back and I'd walk 12km to work every day...in the winter. I'd smoke my pipe on the way there and I'd breath downwards to keep my chin warm in the -30 below weather...suffice to say, the moisture began to freeze and I grew some icicles on my beard by the time I'd get to work.

I have to keep mine business professional length so no problems for me. Plus the further my beard grows the further the wife stays from me.
