Hi guys, got the idea to make a windchime with pipes, you guys think it would work? 🤔
(first I'll need to find and sacrifice some pipes...)

Seems possible, although I am not sure if the wooden chime sound would be particularly melodic unless you had an array of very different pipes.

At some level it seems a bit “sad” to relegate pipes to this task, but…. perhaps if you only string them through the stem, shank, and out the bowl….thereby negating damaging them…. if the project turns out to be a bust, they could then be unstrung and used as smoking pipes again.

true, a fishing line trough the hole... maybe one day I'll do it, if I get around 7 "trash" pipes :D

I think it could work but it might not sound particularly pleasant. The wooden chimes I've seen have been pretty large which I think created a deeper sound.

Might could get something decent-sounding if you went for a Japanese style windchime.
Like, a little glass bell with a cob suspended in it or something.

Or maybe some Falcons, stick meerschaum bowls on 'em and see if the meer survives a windy day, might get some interesting coloration from them just being out in the elements constantly.

No I don't think so. I've heard wooden chimes and they must be significantly tubular & thin walled and still they make a dull / hollow thud. Pipes would be an even duller "thud".
