I am sat here sipping away on some MB Vanilla Flake pondering this and that and thinking about how my smoking technique has changed since i started.

I look into the bowl and see the tobacco burning away and a thought hits me...
Does the flavor come from the burning tobacco? I think to myself sure it must do right?
Then i think or does the flavor come from below the ember? This kind of makes sense to me as smoking slowly would heat the tobacco below the ember gradually giving it time to release more flavor.
What do you guys think?

I think it's a bit of both, but definitely the burning tobacco has flavours. I often smell the stream of smoke emanating from the bowl (between puffs) and it certainly has a flavoured scent.
