Starting to Get Obsessed

I had a pipe in my hand before I was 16, way before in fact. When I explored it more seriously I was likely 16 which was around 77.

Then I was of course trying out whatever struck my fancy at the local drugstore.

Here is a rundown:

Amphora - I liked it then...prolly my favorite at that age.

Sail - Green and Yellow - decent

Scandiniavik - Good

Grainger - I liked it but less often

London Dock...I recall I liked it

One I have not seen any trace of called " Nord Sund "
Then back to the pipe in my 30s I had come back to one of the blends from the Mall tobacco shop, I think it was a heavy Vanilla....not bad.

I did not yet know English to Aromatic until my brother in law brought some very fine English blend for Christmas eve.

It was the best stuff I ever smoked, also from a local shop around DFW area.

Coming back to the pipe years later I am taking note of McClelland and have liked everything I'e tried from them so far.

The Blue Mountain and Frog Morton both are outstanding.
Now, revisiting my old " Sail " yellow....I did not care for it in the least. Either me, or the blend has changed.

Makes me question if trying the old green would be a waste.

Same with the Scandinavik which has the familiar smell in the pouch but did not satisfy as a smoke. Hmmm....

Looks like it would be tough to revisit Amphora as it is mostly not available in the USA.

Grainger, I'd like to taste a bit, but not a large can....

Anyway

MacBaren HH Acadian Perique - did not care for it. Very harsh and over the top somehow. Nothing subtle in the blend that can standout. An acrid smoke that burns the back of the throat. ON the strong side in some ways. I am not experienced with perique, but also I am not taking this as a typical example.
SG - Skiff is a strange one. After reading some solid reviews on another forum I gave it a try. Tolerable, but not outstanding and leaving a bitter aftertaste that lingers.

Also having a harsh aspect.

I have not yet had the legendary Squadron leader.
There are some others that will be tried soon and I will report.

Several on the radar.
All the best
