EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

I keep my pipes and tobacco in our master bedroom. The tobacco is sealed in mason jars and the pipes (2 of them) are in a stand in the open air.
The wife is starting to have a problem with the pipe smell in the room.

I usually run a pipe cleaner through the pipe after a smoke and cool down.

Is there something I can do (other than move everything to a different room) to mitigate the smell?

Don't reuse your pipe cleaners and rinse your pipes out quickly after they have cooled. Most women complain about something...so it really won't matter what you do. Or you can try having her sleep in another room, then she won't smell them! But that too has consequences...your call!

Pipe Socks may help, but I can't remember where you can get them online. Also an air filter would definitely work. I use one in my den where all my smoking takes place. When I have the filter on the wife can't even smell the pipe smoke and even the cigar smoke.

Warm water cleaning after every bowl definitely helps, but doesn’t eliminate the smell. Also, if she complains about the smell at two, imagine the shit you’re going to get with ten there, which should happen in about three months. You’re better off finding a different spot now.

I have kept my pipes in a separate room before my wife passed and since. She rarely complained even walking by the room they were in. The room has that pipe smell and is quite pleasant to most.
I would never have subjected her to those smells full time.

Leave your aros out in a bowl and you'll be just fine lol. But seriously you might just need more pipes ;)depending on how often the pipes are being smoked. I honestly only smell smokyness in the room I use when I have pipe cleaners in the trash which does not have a lid. Also I wash my pipes ofcourse.

Move the pipes and replace in that location something that you both enjoy together. For example... perhaps you both like dragons (I'm just exampling here.... and totally blown away that exampling wasn't underlined by spell check. cool.) You could get a couple little dragon statues, one to signify you, and one for her as well. Or birds. Or cute little hamsters. Or tarantulas. Anyway, you get the idea. And she might be super thrilled that you were thoughtful.

Swab the bowls out with Everclear on a paper towel. Makes a big difference. I do this regularly. Also, put some Everclear on your pipe cleaners.

I just don't understand. It doesn't stink like cigarettes or even cigars. To my family, it just smells like home. It is a big part of who I am, and when I return from a few weeks of travel, the aroma greets me with the comfort of a loving home.

If my wife had a problem with it, and she doesn't.... When we return, she is just as comforted by the aroma as I am. But, if she did... some big decisions would have to be made. I'd miss her, but rejecting my aroma is rejecting me.

You guys can go emasculating yourselves all you want...

Really what you are talking about is the competition of two pleasures. Your wife and your pipe. The question is, has you wife lowered her attempts to please you the way she should? Maybe she gotten lazy. Maybe she needs to up her game and attempt to out do the pipes for bringing you pleasure. You have to stay on them man, our they just get complacent. Remind her good pipes and tobaccos are hard to find but that she's easily replaceable. Remind her that a 20 year old blonde Russian babe is just a couple of phone calls and emails away, ready to take her place. It's good for them, It helps keep them on their toes.

Is there any way she could take up pipe smoking? If she smoked enough, she couldn't smell it either, and/or it wouldn't bother her. If not, I'd move the pipes. You gotta have someone to snore with.

While it may not eliminate it, the HOT water cleanse will certainly diminish the smell from your pipes significantly. Like 90% significantly. I can smell that ashy aroma being flushed when I use the water cleanse on my pipes immediately after smoking them. And if that isn't enough, buy some zip locks to store your pipes in. I don't like that because they won't be able to air dry but it may be the lesser of two evils. Finally, are you sure it is the pipe and not the tobacco? Maybe one or more of the mason jars have a slight leak.

With all that said, I think the common sense thing to do is to store your pipes elsewhere.
