Does anyone actually read more than a line before dozing off? Can't say any have helped me make sound purchases, I guess I look at them more as some perverse reverse entertainment these days, likely says more about the state of my covid life than anything, not that the reviews actually say much.

I read them and they are useful. You have to have a discerning eye to select reviews that accurately describe the reviewers impression of the tobacco. If all you do is say this sucks or this is good then you need to have a rapport with the reviewer.

Some reviewers will tell you the narrative of their entire day beforehand, perhaps tell a few tangential stories, let you know their favorite way to choose and pack a pipe and devote a vague few sentences to the tobacco. I don't read those.

Every good tobacco review should begin with describing the bowel movement one had after smoking the tobacco.

I'm in the same boat...feels like the same adjectives make it into almost every single review. The way Cigar Aficionado does it with a couple of lines and a grade based on 0-100% would be more helpful to me. In tobaccoreviews, just about everyone gives either 4 or 5 stars, and the average scores don't deviate much from blend to blend. I'd prefer that reviewers gave grades more precise than 1-5 stars.

I read them quite often when trying to make new blends(i only smoke my own whole leaf blends) . I mostly just refer to Jiminks reviews as they are actually to the point and describe the flavours and leaf used and not buddy's life story with no actual information on the tobacco lol.

Yea, a lot of the language is bullshit honestly just like with wines. Parker at least (or sadly) made a fortune on his smoke in mirrors wine reviews. All the blends I managed to buy and like based on recommendation were through conversation.

What’s your name on tobaccoreviews.com?

I follow several reviewers, if yours are any good I’ll follow yours.
