Pipe tobacco in a humidor?

A humidor is the last place I would consider keeping my tobacco. But that's because I PREFER mine very very dry.

I bought a couple of pipe stands with pipe humidors (with the Aztec clay disks in the lid) and I've been storing my daily tobacco in those, more for convenience than anything else. It is so humid here on the Oregon coast that it is nearly impossible to dry anything out most of the year. I've taken to leaving small quantities out in an ashtray to hopefully dry a little from our central heating, which seems to work pretty well.
