Starting to Get Obsessed
So the Tooth & Bear (my local shop) is selling a few cigars rolled using pipe tobacco instead of standard cigar tobacco.

I have not tried them yet, but one of the reasons I switched from cigars to pipes (just one reason, there are many) is that I found cigars to be more acrid and less pleasingly fragrant.

Does anyone have any experience with pipe tobacco cigars? Should I give this a shot? They are "limited edition" and only available a few times a year. The tobacconist says they are hit and miss with customers. Some people love 'em, some people hate 'em. They are $10-$15 each. He personally enjoys them as an occasional change up. He is primarily a cigar smoker.

Thoughts?

I believe there's some sort of aromatica tobacco in the Sweet Jane (which I bought on sale and liked more than most aromatic pipe tobacco), and know there's Latakia in the Plum Pudding cigar, which also was quite pleasant.

Haven't tried any Stillwells, but I believe I've heard good things about those too.

Black and milds are pipe tobacco cigars and one of the best sellers in the USA. Of course, they are homogenized wrapper but tens of thousands of smokers enjoy them. I don't see why pipe tobacco cigars wouldn't be enjoyable, the problem is cost. Most pipers like the flavor and economics of pipe smoking.

I’d only be interested in those rolled with Kentucky. I’m British 🇬🇧 so far less option and understanding of what you’re referring too but I did see some rolled with dark fired Kentucky.

Having enjoyed a few Cubans before and my experience with pipe tobacco’s, I often make my cigar blends from dark fired Kentucky + Kendal dark/unscented dark plug + pinch burley like OJK/ Duke and supplemented with various pinches of other stuff like cavendish and perique combinations make some good throat hit spicy Cuban style 💨 goodness.

I wish we had a larger variety here, like American 😢 I’m tempted to import whole leaf but not quite set up for ryo cigar experimentation.

I smoked the Stillwell Navy when it came out and it was good. Maybe a little high on the price.

The Kentucky fire cured line are great and one of my favorite cigars.

Off of those 2 though I’d warn that neither are pipe tobacco in a cigar format. They are very much cigars with pipe tobacco elements mixed in. The KFC is much more notable with the Kentucky but it’s still a cigar. I wouldn’t go into any of them thinking you will get a pipe experience. It will be a cigar experience.
