Hello to you all.

Firstly, I hope you are all keeping well and you are enjoying life. I get a great help with tips and tricks off here, and aside from that I enjoy reading what you guys post and the communal spirit is excellent. I know some of you quite well now and that’s great!

Mum and Dad are taking one last trip back to Ireland in 3 weeks, to meet their siblings and others one last time.

Naturally, I’m thinking of a little bit of tobacco accompanying them back, is there pipe tobacco available in duty free at Dublin, Amsterdam or Dubai? Anyone know?

Cheers all!

Im not clear on where they are traveling from or exactly where you are.

Are they coming from the US to Ireland. Please advise more specifically. You aren’t going to find good tobacco in duty free airport shops

If you are in the eu each person can bring in 250 grams. They don’t even have to claim it. Just walk on thru

My sis and husband just brought me a pound from the states. No problem.

But I don’t know where you are or where they come from

Oops. I meant where they are traveling from and where you are located…the destination. That makes a difference.

There is pipe tobacco at EU airports but never seen something interesting and I don't think the saving of duty free tax justify to buy there. I would suggest to go at some good shops in ireland if they are traveling there

I haven't seen any, but I haven't traveled overseas in a long time. My impression is that the duty-free shops go for high volume items that they can sell in volume to a stream of walkthrough travelers. I don't think pipe smokers generate enough demand with their limited numbers to generate business. Whereas with liquor of many kinds, perfumes, and other luxury items, they can restock the shelves every night.

Haven't seen pipe tobacco in duty free for ages, and others have said I'm not sure the tax saving justifies it. Also, tobacco in Ireland is generally really expensive and often not a great selection. But as @Ahi Ka said, you can get Condor Plug in James J Fox in Dublin. I haven't tried this new one which is made in Eastern Europe, but apparently it's okay.
