After 15 years of working as an accountant, life got tedious with all the corporate meetings and brainstorming sessions which from time to time brought out the worst in people, not to mention the long hours and deadlines that needed to be achieved. So after deliberating about a new career path since 2012, fafnir the fire breathing dragon resigned. Yes nobody saw it coming and my stress levels at work vanished in a flash, so when my coworkers started asking where I'm heading too or if I am starting my own company, imagine the vacant expressions on their faces when I told them I got accepted and enrolled at a emergency medicine academy, yes thats right I am going back to school to become a paramedic.
So in order to celebrate this 180 degree career change from a pencil pusher to a potential future lifesaver, I want a pipe that when I am old and sitting on my porch overlooking the indian ocean, one can reflect on this moment of my life with fondness.
So either a Savinelli 320 rustic or perhaps a Churchwarden or Hans Chrisiaan Andersen?

I can't know your circumstances, but it sounds like the right move. We're about the same age and I wish you the best.
Hey, David Lee Roth did the same thing!

Good for you. You're young enough to do exactly what you're doing and the first life you saved may have been your own. Good luck with your new endeavor. I'd say you've earned a new pipe.

I envy you and maybe one day when I'm fed up with all of the Govt. and corporate BS, I'll be right there with you. Good luck to you and congratulations, I'm sure your better off!

You've made a horribly stake for which you will pay for the rest of your days :) might as well treat yourself to a nice pipe!

Best of luck but trust me working in Health care is not without it's stress, plus learning to separate your work from your personal life, plus dealing with what you see on a daily basis in a healthy manner. Not trying to discourage you, just be prepared.

Congrats, and best of luck!
I'd go for the Savinelli; Churchwardens, while intriguing, are limited as to where you can comfortable smoke them.

Wow. To change careers at midlife takes extraordinary courage. I wish you the very best on your new venture. Get the pipe you've always wanted--you deserve it!

Congratulations. Andy is right. Be prepared for the "excitement" as it is one of the most demanding jobs there is. You'll find yourself in situations you could never imagine doing incredible things. The highs will be high, and the lows will be low. You will definitely need to decompress after work. My only advice is to invest in a bullet proof vest, do the best you can at any given moment and always remember why you chose this path to begin with. Best of luck to you!!

I spent about 20 years as a Controller, then moved into Operations, then to corporate management for the last 20. Those first 20 years were an excellent training ground. I'm sure you will benefit from yours in all kind of ways you cannot see right now.
Congrats on the change! Follow your heart's desire and you can never really go wrong!
Oh...the Savinelli for sure!

With an MBA in hand I entered corporate America in 1998. In 2011 I left it to follow God's leading into ministry, where I got my M.Div. There is no perfect job, there are no perfect people, but getting to choose the stress you face is priceless - even under a mountain of debt. Smoke on my brother! May you be blessed.

Not to be a cynic, but I'd get whatever pipe appeals to you, and then stock up on cobs. You're going to need durable, quasi-disposable pipes for this new career of yours :)
