In the movie Contact with Jody Foster, one of the off-beat scientists is smoking a pipe in several scenes.

I’m almost embarrassed to say how many of those I’ve seen.

Also just noticed one of Felix’s agents smoking a pipe in Live and Let Die… ok he didn’t get a chance to light it but close

I thought my computer screen might explode or ThoughtPolice helicopters would appear outside my window, but apparently this outrageous example of personal choice was somehow given the OK by the Discovery Channel people.

I'm sure there will be some sort of hardcore riot-demonstration display of outrage outside their corporate offices in the days to come (the episode was just released), but a few minutes of victory is still a victory.

It's a competition show about guys who make knives and swords the old fashioned way, with a forge, a hammer, and a hella strong arm.

The pipe smoker guy won (of course).
