My living situation at the moment doesn't allow for smoking indoors. So I spend a lot of time out with a pipe in the local park. I'm also back studying, so that takes up most of my time.
Other pastimes would be reading mainly.
I used to do a lot more creative stuff (mainly drawing, painting and sculpture) but haven't the time (and more importantly the space) to properly enjoy it. Very much looking forward to that changing.
I do waste a lot of the idle hours I do have on youtube though or researching my various interests on the web.

EMp with coffee on a Saturday morning with an EPL game is on is about as good as it gets. I also really enjoy smoking while driving or reading. Unlike a lot of others here I Don’t do well smoking while I’m writing. I tend to smoke myself into a nic stuper and get very little accomplished.
Pipe smoking and… studying! I’m a pretty anxious student and find that the pipe helps calm the nerves to concentrate better.
When I smoke I feel like i channel Ron burgundy. This either leads to an increased measure of awesomeness at whatever is at hand…or vanity as I procrastinate by trying to take selfies for the WAYS thread
Then there is the famous pair. Like Frank and Sam. Like Lois and Kent.. But even greater than Abbott and Costello. Pipe and Diet Pepsi!!!

I’ve always enjoyed this video for several reasons including his opinions about the benefits derived fro pipe smoking and how he lights his pipe.

Usually when I smoke I try not to do anything but smoke. I may look up at the sky and the trees. I try not to think too much. I just want to be there, in the moment.
Sometimes the neighborhood cat will approach, and I will pet him while I'm smoking.
I can't smoke and drive because I use a motorcycle for transportation, but when I'm on a long ride and I need to check the tires, chain, clean the visor, etc, I will sometimes take a few puffs while doing all that.

I’ll go further. I won’t even stand up, let alone walking or cutting grass etc. etc.
I set aside that time to relax and think.
Pipe smoking and writing: I didn’t fully embrace the hobby until I started writing my dissertation. Having the pipe while writing helped to focus and distill my thoughts, and made the entire process that much less awful.
Pipe smoking and amateur astronomy/stargazing: nothing in my world is more peaceful that being out in the placid desert at night with my telescope and a pipe. The quiet and stillness only occasionally interrupted by the yips of a nearby pack of coyotes. A wonderful place to smoke a pipe.
Pipe smoking and hiking/backpacking: I’m not one to lunt during the actual act of hiking. I hike fast enough to get a work out and find that working out while smoking simultaneously isn’t my jam. However, at the break point of the hike, or especially in camp either before or after dinner, there are very few places I enjoy a pipe more than in the wilderness. Combing the two definitely enhances my enjoyment of each.

Well, I'm self-conscious about someone knowing that I smoke (don't know why, maybe I'm a shy person), so that makes me enjoy smoking either inside or while sitting on the balcony. To be honest I just blackout... I scroll on my mobile, or I'm watching TV. It really makes me appreciate the thing I'm doing at the moment even more. And it 100% relaxes me so much.
I think I got completely the wrong end of the stick in my previous post... must have switched off half the brain for a moment.

I haven't done it for a while, but sitting back and listening to classical, opera or jazz goes down very nicely with a pipe.

Right now, audiobooks. Am still new, so I am still exceedingly attentive to the smoking (and definite bouts of relighting), but nothing's more fun than listening to Rob Inglis tell how Tom Bombadil saves the hobbits from Old Man Willow.
