I've been an insomniac since childhood when I certainly didn't smoke. I find that neither coffee nor pipe smoking has affected my sleeping habits one way or the other.

I'm with roth, a bowl anytime of the night has no effect on my sleeping habits but if I have a post-supper coffee then I better find something interesting to occupy my time because I'm going to be awake for a while.

No cravings, usually my mind is racing about stupid things when I wake...not sure what the combo is to getting good sleep anymore.

I have fallen asleep on the back porch or in the shed with a bowl of Dunhill Nightcap. A very appropriately named tobacco. No, pipes give me no issues with sleep. On the contrary, they help me sleep.

Have never woken up with cravings. I do regularly wake up with a desire for caffeine, typically due to a crappy sleep. The desire for pipes usually comes later in the day.

Sleep issues.......One might look into the use of melatonin or Valerian root if having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Melatonin is available in time release. Also, I have turned to the use of White Noise (google it) to help with a good nights sleep. :puffy:

I seem to at least for now have not had issues sleeping. I think most of my issues were created in my mind by constant worrying or stressing about life. I did get a "white noise" machine a while back and that seems to help as well. As I also suffer from tinitus.

Voorhees, I have tinitus as well and it is always loudest when it is quietest. That makes it real hard to get to sleep. I run a fan and I take AmbienCR which is about as good as it gets. Some nights even that doesn't work. For the last 4 days I've smoked high nic stuff an hour before bed and it has worked great. It has only taken me a few minutes to fall fast asleep. So I hope that is the missing ingrediant to get a good nights sleep.
