That's the second cover in their 100 year retrospective with a pipe smoker on it.
And yeah, they aren't cheap, but, as a long-time customer, I can speak to their high quality.
Outfitter since 1912. Says inside they recreated their 1966 catalog cover with photographer Randal Ford. The guys and car are from the original. The background is a different place. Looks like Finger Lakes region maybe. In the '66 version they are looking over a trout stream with a fly fisherman out west.
Right on Jud -one gets what one pays for.
LL Bean was "the" store for preppies in the 70's and 80's. Their boots are the best and the range of goods is vast and good quality. One thing for sure is that classic fashions never go out of style. The Nehru jacket I got from them in 1968 still looks good on me.
The "bean boot" the ones with the rubber bottoms and leather uppers they've been making for 100 years are still made in Maine. That's pretty cool! I looked into red wings awhile back and discovered they aren't made in the u.s. anymore. Go figure.
I have an LL Bean jacket that has lasted forever--a hand-me-down from my dad. I love that thing and, if it ever fell apart, I'd be crushed (until I bought another).
