Pipe Sighting!

Me and my dad were going to the scrap yard to take in commodities and a small load of iron.

Any ways, As we pulled up to the commodities side and jumped out, I smelt a1 fresh, vanilla cherry smell.

I instantly started searching and saw a man tap out his ashes and tuck his pipe away!

I wanted to stop to talk with him but he scurries back off to work.

Alas, It made me smile to see another pipe smoker!

I saw a pipe smoker in another car on the free way the other day! He was just taking his time in the slow lane. Made me smile.

It's always nice to see another pipe smoker. There doesn't seem to be many where I live.

I didn't think there were that many around here either, but yesterday as I bought a new kwudy billiard to replace one I broke this weekend, the clerk told me they were gonna have to restock cause they sold around 30 pipes this weekend, & this place is along way from being a pipe shop.

I think many pipe smokers are content to stay unseen in their quiet dens.
But I am sure our hobby is growing. Don't put us on the endangered species list yet.

Because my wife requests that there be no smoking in our current home, I am relegated to the yard, garage or in "Big Red," my '92 Ford F150. Big Red is much warmer this time of year! I love driving around with pipe loaded and smoking away! I drive my daughter to and from work at the local K-Mart and I like to arrive a bit early and walk over to where the cig smokers are and shoot the breeze with folks. The conversation more often than not comes around to pipe smoking... hopefully some converts will be made! LOL!
PS) we will be moving in a few months and there will be smoking in the house!

It was pretty cool yesterday when I went to my local B&M, which as is usual, caters primarily to cigar smokers. I have a cigar dinner tonight, and went to pick up a new small travel case and lighter so I could be properly accessorized for the dinner. There were several guys hanging out smoking cigars, and I decided to do the same.
I wasn't originally planning on hanging out, (so didn't bring anything to smoke) but The Wall Street Journal was sitting there and I started reading it, so bought a cigar and joined in.
A little while later, I was pleasantly surprised when a pipe smoker walked in. He was smoking a Peterson. That was my unexpected pipe sighting yesterday.

I visited a local cigar shop that opened a year ago, and he has now expanded to pipes as well. Told me that he sold 30 pipes in December, and had quite a stock of Peterson tins and some Sam Gawith bulk tobaccos. Competition is getting fierce around here, that's at least 6 shops within 90 minutes of my home.
