The Dig, a 2021 film about the discovery of an Anglo-Saxon burial ship near Woodbridge in Suffolk, England. Ralph Fiennes plays the male lead, Basil Brown, who was the excavator who made the discovery. As such, he was regularly smoking a pipe, but I could not tell much about it, and nothing about the tobacco he smoked.

C. Aubrey Smith, a great actor and serious pipe smoker off screen, smokes a pipe in the 1940 film Beyond Tomorrow. In the film he receives a Christmas gift from his business partners of what looks like a 7 day set of pipes. He expresses great delight in having received such a gift and you can see him him fondling his new treasures. One of the best pipe related scenes in film, in my view. Smith smokes a pipe, albeit briefly in several other films, and always does so with the authenticity of a someone who is a real pipe smoker.

I spotted a pipe in “Flushed Away”, a hilarious family-friendly film with at least 20 amusing film references and songs scattered throughout.
