I've noticed that John Daly always has a beer in his hand. You gotta wonder if he has sex with one in his hand, too?
Yeah, it's a brilliant movie. I hadn't seen it in a few years so decided to watch it again and that's when I noticed all the tobacco tins in the end scene. It's pretty brief so I had to pause it to see exactly what the tins wereGreat movie, Marathon Man!
Exactly! I remember this too. I got quite interested in those tins and it distracts my attention from the plot of the film at that point. Well done for posting it!At the very end of the movie Marathon Man, the Nazi Szell (played by Laurence Olivier) shows Dustin Hoffman the open case of diamonds. As well as the diamonds in the case there are tins with elastic bands around them, presumably they contain more diamonds. There's a tin of Mac Baren Navy Flake, a Balkan Sobranie cigarette tin and another tin with "Panter" written on it. I Googled the name and apparently they used to make small cigars/cigarilos.
So it looks like Szell's brother - he was the one who was storing the diamonds - liked a smoke. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco.
That's it! I looked for a picture but couldn't find one. Anyone know what the 2 tins in the bottom right of the case below the Mac Baren Navy Flake are?
