Pipe restoration question

I am really curious to know how that activated charcoal method that fisher linked to works out.

Sometimes more than one salt and alcohol treatment is needed. One pipe took me 5 treatments. A retort would have been nice.

Where I live, we can't get anything over 140-150 proof (70-75% alcohol)
