Actually, I'm thinking I may have to start a thread - "Help The Deprived Colonials" so that when any PipeMag members travel over here to Aus, or any of their family, friends, colleagues etc. they bring with them the allowable amount - we in turn will send them back with ruddy good Aussie wine

If you would have posted this three weeks ago I could have had a care package hand delivered from the good ole USA. One of my customers just got back from a trip your way. Spent almost two weeks there.
What's the maximum amount you can send to Australia without getting hit with taxes and all the fun that goes with sending tobacco to friends/relatives overseas?

Juni: They may well be worth a shot, but our $21 for 25gms is the same as your $21 with the cost of groceries etc being about the same between our 2 countries. That's a shite load 'o money for a teeny weeny bit 'o baccy - the green stuff only costs smokers $30 an ounce I believe, gaarrrgh, it's so unfair.

Revs: Not sure of the exact allowable amount of tobacco one is allowed to bring in with them, but I can tell you it's 200 cigarettes, or a carton. Therefore, whatever the tobacco content of those cigarettes weighed is what would be allowed in tobacco tinned/pouched. The retail price is irrelevant, just the quantity, so there's an opportunity for travellers to score themselves some beautiful wines quid pro quo
Conversely, the amount coming through the post that is untaxable is ZERO! If you were to post me half a pack of cigarettes, I'd be charged per cigarette.

DI it is a pain in the but when it comes to getting pipe tobacco i a very lucky

there is a shop about 25km from where i live so small that if there are 4/5 in the

shop it is crouded but if i want a certain blend he will order and mail me

what i want a little while ago i was a bit ticked off as this is the only shop

now when i seethe hassel that you have i realize how very lucky i am

for my pipes i now get from the states very good discount offers on extremly good

branded pipes on hassel is the postage it takes about 4/6weeks to arrive was going to get anew pipe from italy

buy when i see the problems there is with postage as per members experience i am now staying

with the states
