Pipe no Longer Fits its Case.

Understand the mechanics of restoring the bend but would really like to know why this happened in the first place.

Something heated the stem enough to lose its bend. You can always soften it with boiling water to bend it back into shape.

Did this to one of my meers. Left it in the hot car and the stem straightened out. 20 seconds in boiling water and I could bend it right back to where it needed to be.

Probably because the plastic has memory. It started out as a straight stem. And when heated it reverts to that shape.

I tend to think of all stem material being more uniform from batch to batch than apparently is the case.

Omg i know! First boil water and then put a pipe cleaner through the stem…..

Boiling water worked, though it took a few tries. IMHO it could use a bit more bend or curve just about the halfway point but I am going to leave it just the way it sits.
