Hi fellow smerkers, I am from the UK and was wondering if I could ask the forums advice on smerkin a pipe.

I have always wanted to try it and I feel I am now at an age where I need to find my Pipe Nirvana.

Can the more experienced smerkers please advise what tools I would need to start off and maybe what type of Tobacco.
Any advice on a good quality pipe that will make me stand out from the crowd would also be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Smerking Helmet.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I am also looking for advice. I am also soon to be a pipe smoker and was wondering if anyone could recommend me some appropriate headwear to give me the distinguished look whilst smoking.
Thanks in advance.
Wilfy

Thanks marmal4de, can you explain the benefits of such a set up please, bearing in mind I have never smerked a pipe before, I hope it won't be too strong and blow my heed off!!
And as vain as it might sound I want to also look the part, stylish and cool if you will.

In my opinion, Peterson pipes are the hight of style, the system provides a cool and very forgiving smoke, a light english (like Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe) offer a mild smoke, perfect for beginners.

Any particular Peterson pipe I should go for ?

And do I need other tools to compliment it, like a special lighter or cleaning tools?

Thanks lonestar, can you have a look at the other gift sets in that link and tell me the differences of the other tobaccos please, I am a cigarette smoker at the minute but I am looking for a nice easy smoke that will fill the air with the sweet smell of sophistication.

I'm a fan of the Sherlock Holmes myself, I would say its a good place to start.

Before long, you'll have spent hundreds of euros trying them all anyway

You can search the different tobacco blends and find out more about each one. But you've already figured out the important part, starting with quality stuff.

Peterson pipes and tobaccos are fine quality, any choice you make with their products should be just fine. Just pick the pipe or tobacco that appeals to you most.

For the finest in smoking accoutrements, the tin foil helmet is the chapeau de la mode.

Damn it Romeo, you beat me to the punch.....and with a picture yet, nice work.
Love a good Peterson, especially with that smoke hitting the roof of the mouth.
