As the vast majority of posters here have mentioned, emailing would be the way to go.

I didn't even know WTF Instagram is, until this week.
I was talking with the young Korean guy who works in my wife's coffee shop/bar, asking, "why does that other coffee shop have more clients that we do?"
He replied "they're probably on Instagram"...

I asked him to set it up, whatever it is. But seems to more of a show & tell thing.

She's not Russian. You've been scammed.

Where she was born was part of Russia at the time she was born.

Everyone knows Sasquatch was brought to Earth from Grrrtxrcch and lives in Canada now, for example, but he's still technically a ZZQQZZLbbian because that's who controlled Grrrtxrcch 300 years ago, when the starship left.

Ask him. (ZZQQZZLbb revenue agents still badger him for taxes, in fact)

If I see something I like on Instagram, the first thing I look for is a web address or email.

I expect people that do business, communicate by email.

Rhetorically speaking, who doesn’t have an email in the 21st Century, sending messages on Instagram to do business is BS! 👎

For the record, email is verboten by anyone under the age of 30. I neither check my emails nor do I reply to them.

verboten, not in eCommerce.

I’m talking about in the world of business in regards to eCommerce.

I think you might be confusing how text messages on cellphones are extremely popular, and it’s a major form of communication.

If you’re running a business and not answering Customer Service emails, then something is wrong.

There is a right and wrong way to do online business, at least if you want to be professional about it, in regards to customer service, but more importantly, using proper tools for proper businesses organization and management.

Otherwise, sure, you can do whatever you want.

The truth is, when we see people running a business, solely off of Instagram as an example, these are not Internet knowledgeable people, understanding the Tools of Tech.

Most people that do this, I always see the same reasons, thinking they are to small a business, and it’s to complicated. When in reality, they don’t understand size of business has nothing to do with it, and it’s as complicated as they believe.

The truth is, the tools are in place, when used properly to make everything easier for everyone.

I can personally put up a small business website, eCommerce store and social media sites, all linked together and up and running in only hours.

Sorry to say, what we still have here in the 21st Century, is a world, still not using technology properly.

Think about this, we already have the Tech to be 100% electronic and on MS Word as an example, yet, the world still messes around with pen and paper. :(

Best thing I ever did was dump my website and rely on social media. Websites are so 1990’s. I never go to a pipemaker’s website, nor any independent maker’s websites. I mean, some businesses can benefit from a website. But, for a single person maker, it’s just a waste of time and energy.

Now, telling someone who is running a business without a wesbite, with no idea how well they’re doing, what they should and should not do is sort of rude. I know many folks in the art and/or craft field getting more work than they can do. A single artisan really has a limited amount of time and work they can do. At least until they start outsourcing their labor like some of the pipemakers do.

Sometimes making more sales isn’t the issue. Working faster isn’t a possibility. And, that just leaves raising prices or hiring people to make your brand. Personally, I have no desire to direct a room full of people. And, I bet many pipemakers feel the same.

This isn’t about being rude, it’s about helping those understand how to use the Tech Tools is all.

Sorry if you thought I was coming across rude, that is certainly not my intentions.

The reasons why you use a website, it’s not simply about only the site, but all the various tools you plug into a website to run and manage it, with the business.

Most people don’t understand, I’m referring to what you’d call as the ‘Backend’, behind the scene of a site...

Websites aren’t a waste of time for anyone small or large. People naturally look at sites and say, I don’t need this, but what they fail to understand, what they really need is what’s behind the scene, as I mentioned, the Backend.

If anyone is interested in reading, Google; ‘Content Management Systems’. The idea here is to look at the backend tools for a website, all the various goodies to help you run and manage it.

Joomla is one of the most popular CMS out there, I’ve used it in the past to build and manage sites with.

If I want to sell a pipe, I post pictures where pipe smokers are - forums, facebook, instagram, and it's sold before I can get it uploaded and write a description on the website. I (and I think most pipe makers) like to have a dedicated website because it also provides a platform where I can talk about briar, philosophy, forgery, whatever I feel like, and on my own terms, no 40 character limit. But it's for sure not "needed" the way it might have been at one point. But then I'm shit at branding and representation too, I feel like the pipes have to sell themselves, I don't do a lot of "picked at midnight and pissed on by a unicorn" sales tactics.
