I was looking around at DIY home renovation project for my next house and I came a cross a Black & Decker DIY guide on cigar lounge. I liked the idea and I'm adding this project to my list.
But out of curiousness, I was just wandering what does other members Pipe lounge (cigar lounge, men den & etc...) looks like?
Have any photo's?

As I am happily divorced my pipe lounge is my living room! Pretty well taken over by pipes and books.

Funny this should come up now. I'm in the process of redoing my office where I also store all my tobacco related stuff.
When we built the house this room, another spare bedroom and a connecting hall were left with carpet but we upgraded to hardwood and slate in the rest of the house.
I friggin' hate carpet.
So last week I decided to tear out the carpets, install hardwoods and repaint the room.
I even splurged and hired someone to install the flooring. I'm getting to old or too smart to spend all those hours on my knees and the guy is doing it for $1.35/sf. I bought Bruce Planop Plank which is a prefinished 1/2 inch solid hardwood. Amazingly cheap. $2.75/sf at Home Depot where engineered stuff is all $4 or more.
and my dear bride agreed to do the painting. so my only work was to pull the carpet and tack strips, pull all the base and sand and repaint it while it's up, and then reinstall in when complete.
I have a "locador" which is simple a palstic foot locker with a couple hoimemeade humidifiers and a hygrometer to keep RYO tobacco and cigars in. I have alos converted an old antique dresser as my pipe center. One drawer is the cellar, on drawer active stash, one drawer pipes and one drawer accessories.
I'm also building a corner credenza type thing to house my printer/fax etc that currently occupies a cheap printer stand.
When I'm done I should have a nice fresh, "manly", space.
Floors go in tomorrow.

Cool guys, since I've moved again, my pipes and tobacco are confined to a cardboard box. Hopeful I'll get my house together soon and give them a home. If I were closer joensing I'd love to install your floor.

I like that book. In fact, I just added it to my Amazon wish list. To have a room like that is just a dream at this point, but I like the tips in there. Food for thought.

So I've got this book now. The bad news is that at the moment, having a pipe lounge/home office is just a (pipe) dream, but good news is that my wife bought me the book, and she is receptive to the idea at some point. Anyone else out there the home handyman type who has constructed their own pipe-friendly den? Had one made? Converted doghouse?

Hey Simon,

I'm not the handyman in this family, but my Step Dad and I did refinish my basement (where my smokin' hole is located). And, it's funny you mention a dog house. That's what the "dust collector and liabilities" call the converted basement.

This is the Smokin' Hole in "my" Dog House.

The couch and chair would be a nice compliment if it were 100% leather. There is nothing like real leather that gives those certain sound effects when sitting down, only like real leather can do,along with that 100% cowhide scent.

Hey Lawernce I just noticed that dart board in the back. That is the same one I have if it is the Kings Head Pub.

It sure is Duncan.

It's one of my future projects.

I plan on turning it into a dart locker.

I have a good bristle board on the opposite wall.

The Kings Head cabinet still has the Paper Roll Baseball and Dart board in it.

I do use the chalk board in it to keep score.

I used to hustle darts many moons ago.

Kept me in scotch and tobacco money when I first turned legal. Then when I was stationed in Hawaii, I would go to the Rose and Crown in Waki Waki on the weekends, and clean out the Canadian tourists. Bought my first motorcycle with the proceeds.

After all what would a country boy from Alabama know about darts. (insert evil laugh.) :)
Edit: Sadly I got banned from the bar after I took a thousand dollars off of a couple of guys.... The more they drank the better I got. :)

Nice story, pstlpkr! The only person I've ever hustled was my wife. She must've thought she was marrying a rich guy, because I still can't believe she married me for me! LOL!
While I was reading the guide linked above, I LMAO when I got to the part about sealing an interior door. Reminds me of what my friends would do in college. Except they were smoking something else...

My pipe lounge is at the bottom of a flight of stairs outside my office. I'm still married.
