My wife found this at her late grandfathers house the other day in a box with some of his old cheap pipes. Anyone recognize this lighter? Flints gone in it it has a replaceable one like a zippo but a zippo flint wouldn’t get it going.
I not sure what the threads are about maybe it was for a handle? on the bottom is the access area for the fluid/Cotton and the top it has the screw for flint replacement.

What flints Fit it? Like I said I stuck a zippo flint in it and it didn’t strike? But I just read them Fit it. I’ll have to work on this thing some more.

It may have an old flint still in it. They turn to powder over time. I tear my old Bic's apart. Salvage the flint. They work well in those lighters. You have to use a pair of side cutters to clip them in half. They are about 1/2 inch long after you salvage them and are lager in diameter than most flints but they work well. Been using them for years. I keep a Nimrod on my soldering bench without fulid to light my torch.

It did. I took a drill bit and got it out a few minutes ago now it’s working like a champ. Thanks everyone for the help it’s a pretty neat piece and I’m proud to have it. IMG_8583.jpeg

I recently read some of the older zippo wicks had asbestos in the wick material, wondering if these nimrods are in the same boat and maybe needs changed out?

It’s a thick thing compared to a zippo I know that.

It didn't show in the video but the cool trick with the Nimrods is this, if you hold it with two hands closed, one holding the spark wheel then quickly pull the the part that looks threaded with the other hand it lights. I'm surprised they didn't show that on the video.
