Dear forum members,

this Savinelli grezza (second?) pipe have couple of holes and leaks moisture.

I've tryed filling the holes with pipe mud but it didn't last long.

Do you have any suggestion for resolving this problem?

Thank you

Hey guys, I know is not a piece of art, but it's the kind of pipe I bring with me when i go out at night. And believe me, this is the type of pipe I really like to smoke. I can abuse it freely withouth worries, I can drive on a motorcycle, drop it multiple times, splash some beer on it who cares. I learned this after breaking a $200 Peterson wich i tought was very solid.

And apart from the fluid that sometime come out, the pipe smoke really well.

Please have some love for the rejected pipes of the world :)

That has more fills than my teeth!

Leaking moisture?? Please explain.

Does the smoke travel up to the mouthpiece, or is there leaking smoke somewhere?

As to a fix, it depends whether it's just cosmetic or not. So, we need more specificity.
it leakes the condensation fluids, no smoke.

The fix can also be very practical and not cosmetic

Thank you

There's not a reasonable solution to plug the fills. Since aesthetics aren't a factor, perhaps you could seal it with some type of shellac. I'd just wipe the seepage off occasionally and keep smoking it if it works for you.

Ciao Mario,
Since you are fond of her, and since the part that oozes is on the shank where no heat arrives to compromise health and functionality, you could try to remove some grout with a Dremel and then apply a mixture consisting of very fine sanding paste of briar / wood or a pinch of powdered anilline (to get closer to the hue) with some epoxy resin. Allow to dry, and pass the hardened areas in relief with sandpaper 320 and then 600.
This should work durably.
... But I'm sorry, it's really riddled:oops:

I love pipes like these. Reminds me of the Grabows and my Rossi that I punish regularly. I'd say a small dab of super glue would seal that right up, and smoke it away!

I had a Grabow that after about 6 or 7 bowls back to back started to leak while I was working. I was driving roughly 300 miles a day and nothing but time to smoke. Noticed my hand getting wet, and looked down to see a huge crack in the shank. When I got Home I scraped the bowl and used the cake to seal the crack up. Worked for a while but I eventually tossed it.
