This has been a topic of conversation during the last few pipes shows I've been to and nobody seems to know for sure. I think the finish looks like a Dunhill shell, but there's no white spot on the stem.
Ian Walker of Northern Briars made a few pipes for the Johnny Depp movie "Sweeney Todd" but was told that he couldn't include his imprint on the stems. Whoever made the pipes for "Sherlock Holmes" was probably told the same thing.
I know that Museum Replicas in Atlanta sells licensed reproductions of armor, swords, and clothing used in movies. Perhaps some pipe maker should make note, and reproduce it. I'd buy one. :puffpipe:
To me it's pretty obvious he is smoking two pipes - one black blasted straight billiard with a saddle bit and one black blasted billiard with a very slightly bent tapered stem.
Nice pipes. Great movie. Can't wait for the new one due out the 16th here in the States. Would love to findout what blend he has packed in those nice billiards.
