I've had this Peterson pipe for about 15 years. Got it used. It's always been an anomaly to me. I believe it says Made in Ireland (actually kinda looks like England, but I know that couldn't be true)-so that makes it pre '49, Also Peterson of Dublin, but here's where she gets interesting... It is marked "K" on both the stem and tenon. It clearly did not ever say K&P. It was always ever just "K". Also, it is sand blasted. I've only ever seen rusticated Petersons.

Smittyd, With the smooth panels on the sides and the rustication the pipe resebles and old Stanwell or perhaps a Barri Wiking

I suppose it could have been made by one of those Danish factories for the old Loewe & Co.? as an export.

I have a few sandblasted Peterson's. The photo looks more like rustication to me. - Can someone say what really is the telltale signs of rustication vs. blast? Sometimes it seems very obvious. Others, not so much.

Sandblast shows the grain because the sand differentially erodes the different layers because of their density. Rustication creates a relatively random pattern. I guess a simple Google search pulls up a lot of sandblasted Petersons. The store I go to or their supplier must just not be bringing in those. Lots of rustics.
Thanks for finding that article, Jensen.
