I have tried smoking on the opposite side. It gives a bit of a different experience since that part of your tongue is not accustomed to tasting smoke like your more favored side. I read a tobacco review where the guy said he does this in order to really get a good taste for the tobacco. Feels weird to me though.

I'm right handed but I use my left hand to hold the pipe whilst lighting it with my right hand. I also tend to hold it in the left side of my mouth. Never thought about this until I read the post. Interesting question.

Well now there's an original question! I always light with my right, hold in my left. But my teeth on my left side seem to be skeejawed and can't grip the bit comfortably, so I only clench on the right. Funny how I never thought about it.

I am left-handed, and I typically hold the pipe with my right hand and light with my left. I usually smoke from the right side of my mouth, holding with the right hand, as the book or iPad is held in the left. I do swap things to the left side periodically.
