I started with a single pipe, and thought, "Those fellows who collect pipes by the gross are nuts. No way I'll ever buy more than two of three pipes." That was four years ago, and not counting the occasional winnowing, I have 30 pipes and a special table to display them. Tomorrow I expect the ultra rare 107 Dracula arrives (I have a couple of these already) and several Nordings and Petersons to get. I'm thinking of taking up a life of crime.

Extended medically-induced coma, followed by a lobotomy.
"Friends don't let friends PAD under the influence". If you should not legally operate a vehicle, you should not browse or shop for pipes or tobacco. Wouldn't be prudent. (Speaking from experience).

Pipes are great but a new tobacco will do more for an old pipe than a new pipe will do for an old tobacco.

Uperepik;I'm Impressed,I'm trying to keep my acquisitions to a minimum from this on(meanwhile waiting one brand new pipe to arrive)If I was a person who smokes more than 3-4 bowls per day(+some cigs)then I arguably I would buy lots more of pipes in order to have around 30 or so pipes, and that if I'had gotten enough free' money for.But I shall confess I do love buying the new ones, nevertheless each another med priced pipe seem to have some minor quality issues present, observing this to happen kills me,,can't help asking myself, wheres both the high craftmanship and quality control of those days had gone,?

I like restoring them as much as smoking them, when I see an old one somewhere cheap it shall be purchased.

I am the point now with both pipes and tobacco that I do not have a strong drive to add either, but there is an occasional urge. I have more tobacco than I will ever need and more pipes than I need. Doctor said it was Low-"T" and Low- "P" and that there is a pill for it.

I try to keep PAD and TAD under control but it's very difficult if I'm always looking at pipes online.
First step is to walk away from the computer and then I'll get an email from sp.com or alpascia and it will suck me right back in again. I don't think there is ever a time when I don't have a pipe in my cart somewhere.
It's just by sheer wilpower that I don't have a ton of pipes but the one's I do have I smoke regularly.
If I find I have pipes I'm not smoking I trade them in to buy more!

"I'll take any overflow you may have as not to be wasteful"
You got it

You and shantiques

When I go through everything over the next few months. 3 moves in 18 months really messed with my mess.

Red panda's comment was spot on for me. I still have an occasional slight urge to buy a pipe, but that urge is easily controlled when I consider: 1) I don't have the $ to buy any now and 2) I don't believe in having more pipes than get smoked more than once in a blue moon. That's not to say I'll never buy another pipe however.
