I am interested in a Grand Rapids pipe club, Buffalo Traders might be an option but I'm not sure, the best cigar lounge is Grand River Cigar - great place, he has a cigar exemption but state law won't allow for pipes to be smoked, I had heard that there was a group of Grand Valley State University students that had an informal pipe club but I couldn't find any info about that, at any rate I'm interest in whatever developes

Ok its official. I got a job, bought a house, and am commuting weekends back to Chicago to help pack.
So anyway, maybe something can be organized.
I wont be in town until January.
Let's keep the idea alive.

There is a pipe club in Grand Rapids. It is called "Gentleman of the Briar." You can find out more information on our FB page:
https://www.facebook.com/GentlemenOfTheBriar?ref=br_tf
We meet once a month on the last Monday of the month at Take Hold Church, downtown GR from 8pm to Midnight. We've only met 4 times since its beginning but already we've auctioned off a 1970's Kaywoodie Canadian pipe, some tobacco, and some cigar travel storage cases.
Come join us and like us on Facebook to get updates about future meetings and events.

I might be able to make this finally. Still going to midnight at the new location?

I don't know much about Buffalo Tobacco Traders other than they are certified tobacconists from Tobacconist University. I may have been in there once.. they had one or two Nording Freehands and a few jars of tobacco that were sold by the ounce. I've heard a few great accounts of their lounge.. maybe if you talked to the owners about using the lounge for pipe club meetings, they would be amenable if you brought up their tobacconist certifications.
Living in Saugatuck, admittedly there are very few outlets for us on this side of the state, unfortunately.

Buffalo Tobacco Traders is by far the best tobacconist in town with the largest selection of cigars and pipe blends. While their staff can be aloof and sometimes lethargic to customer care, their lounge is wonderfully large and the atmosphere is delightful.
Gentlemen of the Briar meets there on the last Monday of each month from 7-11pm.

I'm kind of late updating this conversation.
Gentlemen of the Briar changed it's name to Furniture City Pipe Society in January of 2016 and since then has moved to Indian River Tobacco Traders. We have 40+ members and still meet on the last Monday of every month from 7-11pm.
We have many women pipe smokers who call our club their home.

Just to note, Grand Rapids is aptly named. The rapids foam and rumble right between the stores in the middle of town. Until you get used to it, it's a little disconcerting. But when it was named Grand Rapids, they weren't kidding.
