Aloha,

My journey with pipe smoking began with a cob, which led to buying my first Savinelli and then many more after that. My inventory of pipes is now all Savinelli and a few Rossi.

I was wondering if there were any other pipe brands you guys would recommend in that same price range and of the same caliber. I also do prefer 6mm, but I'm open to no filter as well.

Dr Grabow makes a number of different styles, some of which are quite nice. For non-filters, Ropp makes some good pipes at decent prices. And Brighams are also neat if you want to try a totally different filter system

Appreciate this, it was a great read. I think a lot of the French pipes fly under the radar, so I was surprised in a good way to read about just how many you recommended in that initial post, even though I mainly go after used American pipes. I have a few French pipes on the way (Lamboley and unbranded), and, truth be told, one of my absolute best smokers is a little Mastercraft made in France.

Look at Moretti Pipes on eBay. The carver sells direct through eBay, great value for great smoking pipe
I second Moretti Pipes.

Great pipes for the price.

Morta as well as briar. Marco is great to work with. Always answers your queries promptly and pipes arrive quickly. I've bought 7 or 8 pipes from him.

If a pipe you like us not in stock, he will make you one. I wanted one with a horn stem and he was happy to oblige. And did not charge extra for that.

Finally got a chance to look through his catalog. I will definitely be looking to get one.

On a side note have you only bought briars for him?

A few brands I have found dependable besides Savinelli are: Nording, Stanwell, Dr. Grabow, Kaywoodie, Peterson (in general), Johs, Genod, BC, and Chacom. There are quite a few others in the same price range, and ranging upwards. House pipes at Iwan Ries are good, sourced from Genod. If you would consider an estate pipe, as a beginner, I'd look at Smokingpipes.com. Some of my moderate and low priced pipes smoke as well as any, I do believe, though I treasure my up-market pipes for other reasons.

Where would Mr. Brog fit into this scope?
