Just found this thread as I unearthed Balfour's book, Alfred Dunhill, 1992, London. It's a beautiful tome.

I don't like Hacker's style of writing. It takes the guy 200 words to say what could have been said in 10. He just rambles on and on saying nothing. But the Book of Pipes and Tobacco by Ehwa is pretty good, with lots of good photographs. I would recommend that. Unfortunately, I think books on pipes are all out of print. It's not like in the old days of Pipe Lovers! I should walk into a book store and ask them where their section is on smoking. Ha.
