The OP is currently enjoying some sun in the Australian Highland where the wifi is hard to come by. He is surprised at the resurrection of this old thread but pleased about the comments. This is still the only pipe he has made. It gets some use but only when he knows he has the time to sit and smoke it. The good weather months soon to hit the PNW will give it a greater chance of use. I keep thinking I'll make one or two more in my life. One to fill a gap in my rotation and one as a gift for my brother. I am in no rush to make these but I look forward to shaping a couple of clearly hand made daily smokers even though my brothers one will just sit on a shelf.
Thanks. I just finished a half bowl is this pipe (Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake). It lasted a pleasant 1.5 hours.
I left all my travel tobacco and a Savinelli Alligator Canadian with my brother when I left Australia and it turns out it is getting some use. This means I might be closer to making my second pipe.
Totally outstanding, thought mine was good, carve your own. Yours is in a different league. Bet you lost some sleep carving round that shank. Mine may not be a prom queen but boy she smokes, and that's what we want!
