I've always found the Peterson's line of Silver Spigots interesting but I've never had one cast a spell on me until now. The other day I was browsing an online vendor (my first mistake) and I saw this sandblasted Spigot and although I tried to click away I just couldn't get the image out of my head.

I love the historical aspect of the Spigot that was the inspiration for this unique family of Peterson pipes. According to legend the spigot was born of ingenuity and necessity when a soldier on some faraway campaign found himself with a broken pipe and used a spent shell casing to repair his injured briar. Imagine the disappointment at finding your only pipe put out of commission followed by the elation of using your own handiwork to bring your faithful companion back to life. I have never laid eyes on an original battlefield fix or even seen a photograph of one but I would sure love to.

I bought the 01 Spigot confident that I would be happy with it's smoking characteristics because I already have this pipe's first cousin a premier grade 301. With a wider chamber the pot shaped bowl loaded up with flakes makes a good walking pipe. The fishtail bit provides a wide open draw I've almost come to prefer over the Peterson P-lip. While on a sunset stroll yesterday evening I managed to keep the 301 going for an hour and still had a tad left in the bottom when I got home.

I ordered my new Siver Spigot from Cup O' Joes -Fine service as usual!

Thanks guys for the comments. My pleasure sharing the pics.
The first smoke was last night with some Pete's Sunset Breeze. I just finished a bowl of McB Vanilla flakes and like I suspected it's a killer flake pipe and the blasted texture feels great in the hand.

Thanks guys! As luck would have it I was just smoking this pipe last night while strolling downtown with a friend. It is one of my favorites.
