Recently purchased a new Peterson Prince from one of our esteemed online vendors. Lines looked great in the photos, with a nice golden/honey stain.

While I was giving it a more detailed look in the bowl, I noticed something off with the graining, and poked at it. I'm pretty sure this is MDF, or particle board or something.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Am I over reacting?

Brylon, gone but not forgotten. A few members with dusty gritty work situations like them because you can wash them in a bucket and they're no worse for the wear. I think that synthetic was introduced in the sixties, and they were around at low prices for decades. They were heavy for their size, and hot to the touch, but always had a few devotees.

I was tempted, just because they were unique and cheap, but with briars, clays, cobs, Mountain Laurels, and a Meer, I thought it would never get smoked and wouldn't resell for fifteen cents. I didn't think it would make a gift unless I wanted to dissuade someone from pipe smoking.

Makes me remember "The Pipe", that I tried back in the late 60's. Yuk!!!
