


For the record, if you had sanded it, I would have found you, I have a certain set of skills that should frighten people who sand old pipes.
Unless it's to smooth out a burnt rim, I find sanding a pipe pretty pointless. A soft brush, a little dish soap, water, and a heat gun handy to dry it out can bring a pipe back to the natural briar color without erasing the markings.
