Peterson System Star info?

I just pulled the trigger on a System Star 307 on the 'bay and while I've seen them around, I wondered if anyone had any information on them, a quick bit of Googling turned up little.

Anyone know how long this line has been around? the seller tells me the letter on the hallmark looks like a "1" and the only "1" looking letter in the hallmark chart is 1976 which would make this a SECOND accidental birth year pipe and I'm just not that lucky, I don't think.

I have a 1979(I think, definitely looks like a lowercase n) Pete System Star 305 and absolutely love it. One of my favorites!

I think the original system star was around during late 60's through the 70's. However not all of the "star" bowls are red. I have a nice 303 system star that is walnut colored. Great little smoking pipe...one of my favorites.
