Mine aren't like that. In any event, using a tapered cleaner, thread the narrow end through the orifice, and pull it out from the mortise side. (I don't like pulling tars toward the orifice)that was what I was trying to convey.
The drat hole is tapered from the mortice end towards the plip end, therefore a pipe cleaner passes easier from the mortice end, rather than trying to ram it in from the plip especially as it needs to turn almost as soon as it enters the stem

@paulfg I see what you mean. It IS unclear. It would be helpful for the OP to clarify this question. Not being able to pass a pipe cleaner through just the stem would be a problem.@Craig i am still not sure where the problem is,it is not clear from the post
is it the stem or cant pass a cleaner into the bowl?
I agree they are not designed to pass a cleaner into the bowl on a system pipe.
thats what I normally do with the stem as well Craig although my new POTY pipe passes a tapered cleaner from the plip to the mortise end of the stem with no problem@paulfg I see what you mean. BTW, For P-lip stems, I insert the narrow end of a tapered cleaner through the mortise end of the stem to account for Peterson's tapered drilling.
