Received word early enough to view them. Fortunately, they featured a tan stain as opposed to the typical dark stain which turned me off just enough to tamp down my initial temptation to go for 1. Sure as hell don't need another pipe and would rather my wife go with the Christmas idea for me I gave her earlier. Can't afford both and that New Mexican-made wrist watch with silver bracelet adorned with big pieces of turquoise I pointed out to her for the same price is gonna look pretty nice on my wrist.

I like the dimensions, very similar to the pipe I'm commissioning.

During the day I smoke standard sized little Lee pipes and love them, and then of evening I smoke huge oversized pipes, and love them more.

I’m convinced there is an art to engineering a pipe, and the geometry between the size of the chamber and length of stem, must be right. For the smaller pipes Lee did that as well as it could be done.

But the very best smoking pipes are huge things that hold anywhere from a quarter to a half an ounce of tobacco, and Peterson and the Danish freehand makers excel at those.

Briar quality also matters.

A Peterson House Pipe ought to be a wonderful smoker, by design.
