Peterson pipe coating

Gents, I'm buying a Peterson shortly, and remember som chaps saying how the coating inside the pipes creates a bit of an issue.
Can the stuff be sanded off?
I didn't like the sound of what some said about it. It sounded a bit off-putting and un-necessary.

Yep. You may really want to as well. It's designed in a way to collect tobacco particles and develop cake FAST. A wet paper towel was all it took to remove it from the ones I had.
