So, you know it will cost you 40 bucks to get a fishtail. That's the fallback point. I took a file to the stem and took off the P-Lip and shaped it up, then sanded with ever-finer pads back to a perfect polish. Problem solved. P-lips tend to (chemical) burn the roof of my mouth as I am (currently) a fan of Virginias, VaPers, and VaBurs. The common thread is Virginias. I think my Ph doesn't like them but I sure do. Fishtails take it away from the roof = problem solved!

If you screw it up, you're only out 40 bucks. If you don't, take your wife out to dinner! puffy

I find the P-Lip reduces the taste of the tobacco, as the smoke is directed towards the palate rather than the tongue. I've owned one a while back and didn't fancy it.

One thing to consider is better p-lip stem. Volcanite stems are usually better made and thinner around the edge. Acrylic p-lip stems that come with Peterson Standard System, and Premium

Exactly my experience, I did not like cheaper line P-lips with acrylic stems. Vulcanite P-lips were like night and day.
