I first tried it in a smaller bowl pipe, and really couldnt agree with the taste. It burned hot despite my efforts, and just left me with a faintly unpleasant aftertaste. Not my cup of tea in the slightest. However, did try it with a bigger pipe a month or two back, and the experiance was alot better. This one needs a slow smoke, and some time invested in drying it abit first. It still wasn't one of the best I've had from Peterson, or in general, but it wasn't bad. Smelt like a carpet.

I have to agree it burned fairly cool and didn't give any tongue bite. It tasted fine actually for my intro to English Blends. The only thing that didn't agree with it was my stomach. After about fifteen minutes of finishing the bowl I was in the bathroom throwing up. Nobody ever warned me that English blends can do that. Now I'm very reluctant to try another English blend, as I despise vommitting.

Wow, I aint never heard nothing like that before. You sure there wasn't massive amounts of alcohol involved? :laughat:

Ok, older thread but here it is. Firstly, I disagree that it is "one dimensional". I find it very enjoyable and more complex than it is credited for. As far as I am concerned it rocks. One of my favorites.

I just smoked my first bowl. I love it! Smoky, sweet, with a hint of some kind of spice that I can't name. Not quite cinnamon... It burned cool. Probably the coolest burning tobacco I've tried so far. But then again, I'm still very new to this.

Do English blends like this mess peoples stomachs up usually or is my stomach just weird? Because as it stands right now after the first experience with it I don't think I'll ever load my pipe up with anything but aromatics.

I know some of the heavier nictine tobaccos can make a give a person nausea if they smoke it on an empty stomach. I learned that with cigars. I never actually threw up, but came close a few times. SO now when I smoke a pipe, if I think it is a more powerful tobacco, I eat something before I smoke. I haven't had any troubles so far.

Old Dublin is my standard, smoke-it-any-time=always-pleases English blend. Not a lat bomb by any means - and I love those, too - but I am always satisfied with a bowl of Old Dublin. There is always a tin in my rotation.

Yes bob, i am completely in agree with Thomas Jefferson. Quate "When the Government Fears the People, There is Liberty;

When the People Fear the Government, There is Tyranny." is completely true.

For some reason I cannot open your review , however, I love Old Dublin. Great blend with the right amount of Latakia.
