Peterson Nickel Army Mounts

Hi, I bought a brand new Peterson Xl 315 standard system. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if the Nickel mount is plated or is it solid nickel?

Always assumed it was solid nickel, but I could be wrong.

Nickel plated brass, I’m 99% certain... Solid nickel work hardens rapidly and is somewhat difficult to work with.

Thanks. I read somewhere that the older ones are definitely plated, just didn’t know about the more modern ones. Thanks for the reply.

Most nickel bands are nickel plated brass. Silver is more malleable, therefore silver bands are 100% silver.

I always assumed it was solid cupronickel aka "german silver". I've never seen one flake which nickel plated guns are notorious for, but maybe I just don't get out enough.

Some old neglected Peterson with nickel band shows band flaking off if you look through flea bag. I wonder if Peterson will upgrade pipes with silver.

Plating is cheaper. Plated brass has give. Peterson uses army mounts that require some give.
